I think Robin Cook said it best: "If I am ever up in court on a serious charge, I want to book Lord Hutton now as the trial judge."
Yeah, the BBC may have made a mistake, just as Blair made a mistake when he said that Iraq can build WMDs in 45 minutes and Bush said that Sadaam Hussein "bought uranium from Africa". That doesn't change that fact that we need the BBC as an antidote to the flag-waving patriotism of CNN and Fox News.

I never could stand Fox news, but I'm deeply disappointed in CNN, which was my news of choice for the late 80s and 90s, and kept me going when I was in "foreign," non-English speaking coutries during times of upheaval like that of the Tiananmen Square uprising.
If not for the admittedly-biased-yet-so-much-better BBC, where would we be?
But then, I think the British are thankfully less reverent of the "humanity" of their leaders, and far more likely to print the dirty laundry.
